Peculiar 8mm projector, impressive and heavy. It is a member of a larger family of projectors which are all based on the same basic concept: the earlier P8 (VEB Zeiss Ikon) and the later Weimar 2 und 3. All are easily recognizable by the fact that both spools are placed on a common axle. The housing, now in cast aluminium (the previous model was made of fragile Bakelite) is much more sturdy. There is now a transformer - instead of resistors - for the voltage reduction. The front door is opened to load the film but may be kept closed during the review. Very useful: a little neon lamp which enables film loading in a dark environment. For backwinding a hand driven little device is provided together with the projector. Launched in 1956/57 Lens: Carl Zeiss Jena Prokinar 1,4 / 17,5mm Lamp: 30V 100W P28s Variable speed: approx. 12 to 24 fps |
